Position Overview
The Communications Manager will serve an integral role in positioning the Club’s brand and shaping its media footprint with local and national journalists and publications. The Communications Manager will assist the Sr. Director of Communications and Public Relations in leading the Club’s day-to-day media relations and match day public relations efforts. The position will help lead all club-related media relations efforts, research and source accurate and timely statistics for media and external facing content and materials and service media and run point on media operations and logistics on matchday, with a primary focus on credentialed media members attending matches
Responsibilities
  • Manage and/or assist in the creation of weekly media materials including press releases, match previews, Game Notes, match storylines, weekly team schedule and statistics-based information.
  • Manage press conferences, media availabilities and media events as needed
  • Help oversee the matchday experience for credentialed media members, including parking, stadium entry, press box seating and communications
  • Help lead the research and sourcing of accurate team, player, and league-related statistics
  • Assist with all game day media responsibilities for both home and away matches (some travel required to away matches)
  • Assist with pitching media both soccer and non-soccer-specific stories
  • Identify unique and interesting story angles, and actively pursue media opportunities to expand the profile of the Club and its staff
  • Assist with the coordination and execution of local and national interview requests and provide guidance to players and staff prior to every interview
Qualifications
  • Minimum of two years full-time experience supporting Communications and/or Media Relations Department(s), especially in professional sports
  • Industry Knowledge: Full-time experience supporting professional soccer communications and media relations and a knowledge of MLS are strongly preferred
  • Creativity and Passion: Finding unique storylines that connect the Club with audiences through earned media channels
  • Research and Statistics: Ability to research and source accurate, relevant, and timely information and statistics
  • Initiative: Ability to work independently and demonstrate a forward-thinking and creative way of working
  • Organization: Establishing priorities, defining action, and setting up a workflow to achieve goals while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Interpersonal Relationships: Developing constructive and collaborative relationships with media, players and coaches, soccer staff, executive staff, and other departments
  • Tech: Experience with Adobe Premiere (or other NLE), Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator with an emphasis on the ability to use Illustrator on a weekly basis to assist in the production of Game Notes and other materials as needed
  • Analysis and Reporting: Ability to monitor media (experience with Meltwater is a plus) and evaluate data and information to influence media plans and solutions while showcasing results
  • Availability: Ability to work extended hours, including nights, weekends and holidays as needed, including all Nashville SC matches
  • Though not a requirement, candidates fluent in both English and Spanish are encouraged to apply
